By teaching these skills to at risk parents and caregivers in your community, you will make a vital difference in the language development of young children. Your workshops will enhance the library's value to the community.

Story times alone aren't enough.

•  Workshop Scripts and Materials
This site has scripts for conducting parent/caregiver workshops, handouts for parents/caregivers, posters and other aids, and related files to help you prepare for your parent/caregiver workshop. Click here for scripts in other languages.

1) Plan your parent/caregiver workshop

•  Consider offering the workshop in partnership with another community group. Find suggestions on the
PLA/ALSC Community Partnerships
page.

•  Contact your Regional System office to borrow the Every Child Ready to Read® Kit and for assistance gathering resources and planning your workshop to meet the needs of the people who are coming to the workshop.

•  Use resources on the PLA/ALSC Every Child Ready to Read® @ your library® website:

•  Browse the wealth of support available under the various Resources in the left navigation bar of this website for more ideas...

READY TO READ is administered by the State Library of Ohio and the Ohio Library Council and is made possible, in part by Federal Library Services and Technology Act Funds, awarded to the State Library of Ohio by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Dayton Metro Library and Columbus Metropolitan Library have provided additional resources to this project.
