Early Learning and Nutrition How-To Guide and Conversation Starters
The Lunch at the Library coalition has created a 14-page how-to guide, Linking Early Learning and Nutrition for Young Children, which helps libraries connect summer feeding programs with services and support for young children and their families. In partnership with Tandem Early Learning, Lunch at the Library also makes available a set of Conversation Starter tabletop tent cards to encourage serve-and-return interactions between caring adults and their infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
The Conversation Starters are aligned to early learning standards. They cover various topics related to food, eating, and nutrition. The guide and the Conversation Starters cards are available for free download: lunchatthelibrary.org/toolkit/early-learning-nutrition-connecting-lunch-at-the-library. They are intended to support feeding programs in libraries, but are also useful for any library wanting to support wellness, nutrition, and literacy development.
