Hold the date! Storytime Foundations is coming to Delaware County District Library on Wednesday, August 26 and Medina County District Library on Thursday, November 19. Registration opens in mid-July for Delaware and in August for Medina.
Storytime Foundations, a hands-on workshop for library workers, covers the basics of planning and presenting a storytime. Attendees explore different formats, presentation styles, best book choices, music selection, and learning activity ideas. Facilitators lead discussion on what is developmentally appropriate for each age group and how to effectively engage caregivers in early literacy practices. This interactive learning experience provides multiple resources and basic information to allow attendees to begin building a strong foundation for storytime programming.
Storytime Foundations debuted as a one-day conference, planned and produced by the Ohio Ready to Read task force and held in Columbus in April 2024. The workshop based on the conference was live-piloted in spring 2025, revised and re-piloted in spring 2026, and is being offered regionally in Ohio starting in fall 2026.
